Make sure to grab some green this weekend before you hit the slopes or head out on the town because St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner.
The holiday is this coming Monday, March 17, but residents and visitors can find plenty to do on Sunday, March 16, and the holiday itself.
If a community dinner is something you would be interested in, St. Vincent Catholic Church in Basalt will be hosting a St. Patrick’s Day community dinner on Sunday, as well. From 4-7 p.m., anyone is welcome to join the church for corned beef, cabbage, and carnitas. Tickets will cost $25 for adults, $15 for kids aged six to fifteen, and will be free for children under 5.
For people looking to celebrate the holiday on St. Patrick’s Day proper, St. Mary Catholic Church in Aspen is hosting its annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner on Monday, March 17. The event is the oldest running event in Aspen, having first started in 1887. There is no cost for admission, but proceeds from drinks and donations will be donated to charity assistance funds for the needy in the Roaring Fork Valley. All are welcome; there will be roast beef, mashed potatoes, beer, wine, and more.
Skiers and riders at Aspen Highlands will be able to ski into the evening on Monday as Highlands will be open until 6 p.m. Go to the Merry Go Round mid-station from 2-5 p.m. for a DJ, Irish food, and drink specials. Additionally, the Highlands Ale House at the bottom of Aspen Highlands will have live DJs from 2-8 p.m. and Irish food and drink specials.
