What’s the Big Deal: Red Mountain homes nabs $9.7 million

Worth noting: The buyer, Bedlington LLC, also recorded the previous week’s biggest transaction in Pitkin County when it paid $11.7 million for a home located at 255 Hunter Creek Road. Bedlington formed Aug. 26, according to the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office. Meanwhile, the day after seller Brown Sparrow LLC unloaded the 209 Hunter Creek Road property, it paid $8.99 million for a 4,056-square-foot home located at 1940 Red Mountain Road, according to property records.
• A Texan who settled a lawsuit with his Mount Sopris neighbor for $750,000 over the cutting of trees is suing his insurance firm to pay half of the amount.
CourthouseNews.com reported Sept. 4 that Walter B. Stuart took State Farm Fire and Casualty and State Farm Lloyds to court. Stuart was sued by his neighbor, trial attorney Gerald Hosier, for cutting down trees on his neighbor’s property. Apparently, Stuart thought the property was his and he had his landscaper do the work. Hosier, in turn, sued him for trespassing and negligence.
CourthouseNews.com’s report says Stuart thought State Farm would cover his losses in the settlement, but it didn’t. Stuart’s suit was filed in Harris County Court in Texas.
• As of Wednesday, Pitkin County had 24 foreclosures in the works. That’s according to data from the Pitkin County Treasurer’s Office, which show the original principal amounts ranging from $50,000 on a Holland Hills triplex to a $7.3 million for a home in Woody Creek. Seven of the foreclosures concern seven-figure properties.
