What’s a guy to do?

Dear Editor:I think that Matthew Starbuck may be on to something. Rather than suffer the restraints of debate and reasoned discourse, why not simply cut to the chase? In one brief and pointed letter (“America, then and now,” May 9) Mr. Starbuck lambasted Mike McGarry about an earlier letter to the [Aspen] Times (May 5). Then, on May 10, I see Mr. McGarry has invited Mr. Starbuck into the alley. Archaic perhaps, but when someone likens you to the Ku Klux Clan, brands you a closed-minded, hard-hearted racist and suggests you leave the area … what else are you left to do?Keith ShupbachScottsdale, Ariz.
