What do you think, Mick?

Dear Editor:

Imagine my surprise ” maybe not total ” that City Manager Steve Barwick is hoping for a contract to secure his job. I was hoping he’d have the humility and shame to step down after all the mistakes, dishonesty, what I believe are phony cost studies, cover-ups, incompetence and gross mismanagement came out about Burlingame.

And if that’s not enough to make one self-conscious, how about his very high salary and his many benefits? He pays $632 in property taxes while my family pays $840 in taxes to the library alone. (I love the library ” not complaining.) I am simply pointing out a typical city government injustice.

It’s sweet of Mick not to rush into a contract ” just wait for the next council to do so. Sure, Mick, you want to be re-elected, and then you can give the man his contract as part of the next council. What do you think about the manager, Mick? Now, not later. Can you say “embedded?”
