What an awesome community

My mother, Rhoda Post, recently passed away. She was diagnosed with cancer in mid-June and died here, in Aspen, on August 2.

During her illness, we discovered the deep meaning of community through a real sense of belonging to this amazing community of Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley. From far and wide friends, associates and community members generously gave of themselves, just so that everyday living for my mother and our family could be easier. From food on the table to a shoulder to cry on, we were well looked after. Truly, we were given a gift of unconditional love.

On behalf of the Post, MacCracken and Fertig families, we wish to express our heartfelt thanks to: all our friends (you know who you are); oncology Nurse Barbara Sterling (she’s an angel); Dawn, Amy and the entire 8 a.m. fitness class at the Aspen Club; Erlinda Moorehead; The Aspen Music Festival and School; Rabbi Mintz; the Aspen Jewish Congregation; Roaring Fork Hospice, especially nurses Marcia, Patrick and Patti; Tina Stahley and the Valley Angels; Dr. Mike Check; Aspen Valley Hospital Hospice Program; and the AVH nurses who made my mother’s last days bearable.

You are special people who live in compassion and caring service to others. You reveal to us the true complexion of this town. We don’t know what we would have done without you.
