Westin Snowmass overhauls executive team

The Westin Snowmass is undergoing some major changes on its executive team, an owner of the property confirmed Thursday.

David Wasserman, principal of the group that owns the Westin/Wildwood complex on the Snowmass Village Mall, declined to comment on whether Starwood Hotels & Resorts would continue to manage the property, although many of that company’s executive staff members on site are being replaced. The hotel will continue to operate under the Westin brand, Wasserman said.

“This is only to improve our service and be as community-minded as possible,” Wasserman said.

Since the exit of general manager John Curnow earlier this summer, rumors have abounded about the status of the hotel complex, which was purchased from local owners in 2011 and renovated in 2012. The two lodges have over 400 guest rooms combined.

Wasserman also said Thursday that the ownership of the complex — a joint venture between Wasserman Real Estate Capital LLC and Starwood Capital Group — is not changing.

“This will continue to improve what we do every day,” Wasserman said.
