West End trolley?

The street cars are attractive, unique and fun, but their technology is 150 years old. They simply will not replace the Galena Street Shuttle in its ability to move visitors and locals from uptown to downtown.
Even their individual carrying capacity seems less than the shuttle (which needs updating in looks and capacity itself).
I grew up with street cars in Saint Louis, which were replaced by buses 50 years ago. The buses were much less fun to ride, but were much quicker, could go more places, and were just more efficient. No longer did transportation slip on icy rails ? nor slide on greasy rails on Halloween.
But, why not put electric engines on them (and rubber tires) and run them to the Aspen Music Festival and Harris Hall, a “no-hills ride on the jolly trolley,” like Judy Garland?
