West End residents should foot the bill

Dear Editor:

Regarding the West End traffic, I suggest that everyone use the Smuggler, Powerline Road, Cemetery variation. It provides a great view of small-town Aspen. And it is a public street.

These people in the West End need to wake up to the fact that it is not their street. Who maintains these roads? We, the taxpayers, fund the snow removal, paving and maintenance, etc. Deal with it.

As far as the street “closures” around the S-curves, I feel that these residents should be funding all of the above. Why should our tax money go toward maintaining streets that we cannot use?
