We’re counting on you

My thanks to the many citizens who have called me or e-mailed me about their desire to be counted in the 2010 census.

For each of you, I have created a map and an e-mail for the census team and have been promised they will contact you with a form that takes but minutes to complete. Let me know if you have not received a form by mail or in person and I will do my best to see that you are counted.

For those who have not been counted or who have not received a form, please feel free to e-mail me at mick@sopris.net or on my cell at (970) 987-2122. You may also call the census directly at (970) 361-9036.

Every person matters. In 2000, this community lost upwards of $3 million in state and federal aid based on population. For each undercounted citizen, the loss is estimated at $8,800 per year.

Being counted is your right. Our representation in the state house, senate and congress depends on an accurate count. Please help by contacting us or the census to be counted.
