We’re being hoodwinked

What is it about the political class and their followers that make them shout “energy independence” for which we all must sacrifice? Toss in “renewable energy” and most of the population gets glassy-eyed. If foreign sources are able to produce energy (petroleum, etc.) cheaper than we can, that’s where to buy it.
When we produce things cheaper than foreign countries, they buy those things from us. All trade balances out. This is not rocket science. Economists have known this since the 18th century. The federal government loves to subsidize things because that’s how the political class passes out favors (money) to itself, its friends and its supporters.
One good example is solar power, which cannot compete with other sources of energy without a subsidy of about 6-to-1. That means for every dollar’s worth of energy from solar that we consume, other taxpayers must pay $6. Those other taxpayers are us. Don’t be fooled! The same goes for “manmade global warming,” which has been thoroughly discredited, yet the politicians and the uninformed still cling to it.
Politicians and their bureaucratic accomplices don’t act in our best interest; they act in their own.
