The Gear Junkie: Star Wars Jackets

Columbia Sportswear nods at the upcoming release of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” with a limited run of winter jackets.

The outerwear was actually inspired by “The Empire Strikes Back,” but it coincides with the new film release this week.

Dubbed the Echo Base Collection, Columbia worked with Lucasfilm to replicate the look worn by characters on the fictional planet of Hoth.

The Han Solo Echo Base Parka, Leia Organa Echo Base Jacket, and Luke Skywalker Echo Base Jacket compose the line, each costing $400.

Only 1,980 of each jacket will be available for purchase, starting Dec. 8 online and in Columbia retail stores.

Luke Skywalker’s Echo Base is a jacket-vest combo made of a water-resistant cotton blend, complete with a stowable hood. Insulation keeps you warm and conserves body heat.

The Princess Leia Organa’s Echo Base is another vest-based jacket with a water-resistant material blend. It has a stowable hood, “princess” seam piping, gusseted sleeves, and is sure to catch the eye of that special intergalactic pirate who is so annoyingly charming.

Speaking of Han Solo, the character’s namesake jacket has a faux-fur trimmed hood, leather Rebel patch, and a reflective lining. The fabric is water-resistant for storms on Hoth and beyond.

While you may never wield the Force, these jackets get you one step closer to the films. Purchase them online or at Columbia retail locations when they open doors this Friday for all who desire to dwell in a galaxy far, far away.
