Mountain Mayhem: Summer Scenes
The social scene typically hits a fever pitch surrounding the summer solstice, which this year was June 21. The day the sun’s zenith is at its northernmost point marks the longest stretch of daylight all year. Several happenings around this included the annual Picnic on the Preserve at Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES), hosted June 11 and open to one and all with free access to members as a benefit (starting at just $50 annually). The eco-friendly evening included live music, an opportunity to walk the paths around the lake, wade in the shallow water, visit with resident birds, and wine and dine. Next up at ACES: the sixth annual Raptor Fair, sponsored by First Bank, on July 5 from 3 to 5 p.m., which is a free community event for all ages. Take advantage of up-close interactions with birds of prey including ACES’ resident red-tailed hawk, golden eagle and great-horned owl, as well as a bald eagle, Harris’s hawk, rough-legged hawk, screech owl and more.
On June 21, Dior and Dom Perignon partnered for a Fall 2018 Collection reception at Dior Boutique in downtown Aspen. Special guests Kristin Pruett with Dior and Peggy Lanigan with Dom Perignon were in town for the occasion as hosts. Patrons socialized, shopped and shared style tips as Caribou Catering served savory appetizers paired with flutes of premium Champagne.
The membership circle at the Aspen Art Museum (AAM) known as the Contemporaries enjoys entry to signature art events. On June 25, one such occasion was a private Collection Tour at the home of AAM patrons Larry and Marilyn Fields. The generous hosts spoke to the group about their contemporary art displayed throughout their home, joined by Heidi Zuckerman, the AAM Nancy and Bob Magoon CEO and director, AAM Board of Trustees Co-Presidents Paul Pariser and Amnon Rodan.
