The Aspen Art Museum’s major fundraising gala took on a carnival theme this year, designed by STONEFOX architects, featuring a Ferris wheel, big top tent and burlesque performers. Upon arrival at ArtCrush, guests moved through turnstiles to enter the tents, festooned with bright lights, billowy fabrics, stages, a spiral-styled step and repeat, and feather-costumed entertainers.

The whimsical evening began with an opening reception as guests enjoyed fine wines selected and served by Master Sommelier Jay Fletcher and a team of Aspen’s top somms, appetizers from ASC Catering, and perusing the bevy of artwork in the silent auction.

When seated for dinner under the big top, event chair Amy Phelan welcomed all, followed by AAM CEO and Director Heidi Zuckerman who presented contemporary artist Gabriel Orozco with the 2016 Aspen Award for Art. Sotheby’s Oliver Barker commandeered the live auction, which played an integral part in the evening’s success, raising more than $2 million in all for the museum that night to support the non-profit’s operations, education programs, and more.
