20 Years at the Drafting Table

by May Selby

David Johnston Architects celebrated a double decade anniversary by gathering with friends, family and fellow associates for a cocktail reception at The Little Nell on Oct. 25. The full-service architectural firm located in downtown Aspen has developed a sterling reputation over the past 20 years for their architecture work — both commercial and residential — in the Roaring Fork Valley and throughout the Western United States. The architecture team of Collin Frank, David Johnston, Wheeler Clancy, Kevin Michelson, Brian Beazley and Roger Hall were all in attendance for the après-work reception, welcoming guests as they flowed in and out throughout the evening. Renderings and images of their work appeared on a trio of TV screens behind the bar and rumblings of guests noting, "I built that," "I sold that," "I love that" could be heard as the images transitioned. As the evening came to a close, the DJA team demurely posed for photos, making it clear they each prefer being behind the drafting table rather than in front of the lens.
