Raymond K. Johnson and Edith Adriana Chaves Vivas were married June 14 in a private ceremony on Independence Pass. The wedding was followed by a small reception at the home of Lisa and Jim Hancock, the groom’s sister and her husband.
The groom is the son of Loretta Banner of Montrose, former Pitkin County clerk, and Bryan Johnson of Cortez. The bride is the daughter of Rafael Chaves and Graciela de Chaves of Bogota, Colombia. The groom, who graduated from Aspen High School in 1979, teaches skiing in Snowmass during the winters and spends the summers as the Fire Prevention Specialist at the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada. The bride has worked for the Aspen Skiing Company for the last seven winters and is currently employed at the Snowmass Club.
