We need Menconi, too
Dear Editor:For four years Eagle County has been well served by Commissioner Arn Menconi. And while commissioner Menconi’s own district lies in the Eagle Valley, he has been attentive to citizens’ needs in the Roaring Fork Valley, paying frequent visits throughout his tenure on the county board. His presence here and his familiarity with local issues stand in contrast to the commissioner whose district actually encompasses our valley. We are fortunate that Arn Menconi is seeking a second term. For voters concerned with development of trails as recreational amenities and as alternative transportation routes, there can be no better advocate than Arn. He has consistently supported the efforts of the MidValley Trails Committee and stated twice during a candidate forum in El Jebel on Oct. 11 that he believes that the county board needs to take a strong, proactive position regarding trail development in this outlying part of Eagle County. People who have worked with Arn over the years know he will not forget campaign promises after the election. On Nov. 2, voters have an opportunity to re-elect a commissioner who has demonstrated concern for residents who are a small minority of Eagle County’s population and who live miles from the county’s power base. We need Arn Menconi’s voice. Please give him your vote.Ruth FreyBasalt
