We can’t afford to lose Tom
May 15, 2002
As an Aspen High School senior who has attended Aspen schools since kindergarten, I would like to express my support for Superintendent Tom Farrell.
I find the allegations raised by Carrie Morgridge and Laurie Michaels to be not only inaccurate, but also outrageous. In the time that I have known him, Tom has done all in his power to assure that the students of the school district are given every opportunity to succeed.
His relationships with individual students, as well as the collective student body, are admirable, for he manages to maintain respect while building friendships. He cares for each student personally, and his office door is always open to students with any needs.
In Tom Farrell, the Aspen School District has a compassionate and wise leader, whose influence on the students is highly underrated. Although as a senior I will not personally experience the consequences if Aspen loses Tom to another district, I have two younger siblings for whom I am concerned.
There can be no replacement for Tom and his unparalleled leadership; the community cannot afford to lose such a figure. Thank you Tom, for 13 years of excellence.
