We all need a rest

Dear Editor: INFILL, INFILL. We’re getting it in the city, and soon it may be coming to the county. Oops, it’s already in the county. See Burlingame One.Let’s see, the city’s citizens have already voted down a large performing arts center downtown, a tall fill-in addition between the Wheeler Opera House and the Mother Lode and an ignominious tunnel avec four lanes across the Marolt open space. Now, we read of plans emanating from the planning office (not iced yet), to build a new city-county facility or a performing arts center and affordable housing on the failed Galena Plaza space. We have so many fatted spaces that really need to be built on.The city hopes to build housing for 60 percent of city workers, a goal that can hardly be reached when the proposed roar of “infill” construction is creating employees faster than new employee housing can be built.Replace the Rio Grande master plan with a new civic master plan? Why not? We seem to change “master” plans every few years. Maybe, it’s time to replace a few of our current officials at the same time. We all need a little rest.Charles T. Collins Aspen
