Wanted: Skico marketing job
December 20, 2005
Dear Editor:Cities like Beverly Hills, Calif. and companies like Apple Computers know how to maintain a higher profile in the public eye and in smart strategic marketing executions than the city of Aspen and the Aspen Skiing Co.Therefore, Aspen and Skico can take high-profile promotion lessons from ski-wax manufacturer ICER, which trucked in 200 tons of snow into San Francisco’s Pacific Heights community and had 20 professional skiers and snowboarders flying down Fillmore Street on Sept. 29 (“Ski jump lifts spirits, profile: snow place like S.F.”, Oakland Tribune, Sept. 30).When you arrive in Oakland on Sept. 30 and pick up the Oakland Tribune to read about a great promotion that would make Beverly Hills jealous, you know you have something to share with others who like spectacular imaginative special events. If Skico had me on board, the “special” in special events would be significant. Can we teach an old dog new tricks? Who wants to increase gross sale revenue by 10 percent?Emzy Veazy IIIBurbank, Calif.
