Wallace Westfeldt services on April 8

Aspen Times Staff Report
Aspen, CO Colorado

SNOWMASS ” Two memorial services will be held for Wallace Westfeldt on Tuesday, April 8, one at Snowmass Ski Area and the other at the base of Buttermilk.

Westfeldt, an Aspen native and sponsored snowboarder, died of internal bleeding following a fall on April 4 in Tonar Bowl, in the backcountry outside of Aspen Highlands.

An on-snow service will be held near the picnic table on the Sandy Park run, reached from the Elk Camp lift on Snowmass Ski Area, at 1 p.m.

The service will be an “open-mic” format for anyone who would like to share their memories of Westfeldt.

Anyone without a ski pass who would like to attend the service should show up at noon at either the Elk Camp Gondola or the Two Creeks lift and let staff know they are attending the service, according to organizers.

Attendees should bring skis or snowboard to reach the service site.

A second service will be held later that day, at 3:30 p.m., at Bumps restaurant at the base of Buttermilk. This service will include designated speakers and slides and video of Westfeldt.

Both services are open to the public.
