Walkway moves ahead

Aspen Times Staff Report

While one trail in West Basalt was sent back to the drawing board, Basalt officials said plans are progressing to eliminate a different pedestrian nightmare with a sidewalk.

Public Works director Gerry Pace said the town will build a sidewalk from the El Jebel City Market property past Movieland and Orchard Plaza to the pedestrian underpass at Highway 82 in El Jebel.

The cost is estimated to be $30,000. Half will be supplied by the owner of Orchard Plaza.

Pace anticipated starting the work in a few weeks, after the $15,000 is forwarded by the property owner.
