Walking together

Dear Editor:

Our Dakota Sioux group attended the Gathering of the Americas at Carbondale (Dec. 4-6). We want to express our gratitude for the hospitality and generosity of the community. We acknowledge the time and effort of caring individuals who welcomed us. The beauty of nature and people is a shared existence.

The Dakota people believe that when people come together, those events were meant to happen. Relationship is a standard that nurtures us and allows us to grow with insight and value. To each family that provided food and lodging, we have placed you in our hearts and memory. A special time is upon us; we will also share our time with those who are in need of help. We walk into the new year with all our relatives.
