Walk with the veterans
Dear Editor:At this year’s Aspen 4th of July parade, the valley community will again have an opportunity to acknowledge the sacrifice of all the men and women who, as Americans have done for 229 years, put their lives on hold to serve our country. Their efforts will be recognized in the parade entry Tribute to Our Valley Veterans. During this 60th anniversary of the end of WWII, we give special recognition to the men and women of the generation who saved the world. All U.S. military veterans and active duly personnel, locals and visitors, are invited to walk in the Aspen parade with our entry. Participants should locate the group near Paepcke Park at the start of the parade route by 11:30 a.m. Veterans needing transportation or anyone who can provide transportation should call Peter Hoffmann at 963-1759, ASAP. For more information, veterans should call Hugh Roberts at 927-4194 or Sally Glenn at 948-8278.As Americans celebrate the 4th of July, we need to remember that the freedoms we enjoy were purchased with the service and sacrifice of our men and women in the military. Our men and women in uniform are today again defending these freedoms. Please come join the veterans walking or give the vets a big cheer of appreciation from the sidelines.Hugh RobertsVietnam USAFSnowmass
