Walk the walk, Aspen

Dear Editor:Environmentalism is all the rage these days. Either you’re environmentally holy and sanctimonious, like your own mayor, Helen Klanderud, or else you’re a vile “polluter,” and necessarily a Republican.I just have a problem with the profound hypocrisy of the Green Set. Helen just flew to my home town of Irvine, Calif., on Friday, for the purpose of lecturing to others on (get this!) how to protect the environment. I rode my mountain bike eight miles there to hand out fliers pointing out the hypocrisy of driving and flying for the environment. Al Gore is the most infamous proponent of this hypocrisy. Now if you Greenies in Aspen really practiced what you preached, you’d shut down your tourism. No more skiing. No more flying and driving to Aspen. Sorry. We’ve got to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 95 percent just to have a 50 percent chance of saving Mother Earth. It’s dire. Don’t let your greed blind you. Just kidding. It already has. When you’re a leftist, talk is very, very cheap. Actions are something entirely different.John JaegerIrvine, Calif.
