Wake up, America

Dear Editor:Regarding the Other Voices (column by Janet Urquhart) in the Friday, July 15 Aspen Times, there was an upset feeling that came over me. Clinton’s statement about global warming being in higher concern over terrorism is the right idea. He is trying to help Americans move on, which in my opinion is way overdue. We as Americans have a real problem thinking for ourselves. What boggles the mind is the fact that we can still be so convinced that terrorism is constantly over our heads. We need to move on and start putting our effort into things that we can solve, such as global warming.A good magician knows all well about distraction. That is all Bush is, a magician, not even a good one at that for those who don’t watch his pyrotechnics. Why are we still at war when it has been years since we’ve even had a threat? Because Bush is trying to find a way to fill the trillion dollar debt that he has enforced since Clinton left.I end by asking how is that we can spend billions on a moot point war when there are textbooks in dire need. Just think, one 40 billion dollar tank could be a huge boost to our education deficit. Wake up.Trent BauerBasalt
