Wake up, ACRA

Dear Editor:

As a past Roaring Fork Valley resident who now works on climate-change strategy, I was astounded to see that on the same day that the Department of Agriculture moved Aspen into a warmer climatic zone, the Aspen Chamber Resort Association decided to continue paying annual dues to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

That far-right trade group is arguably responsible for moving Aspen farther into the warm zone through its tremendous support for climate denial. This seems exactly counter to the goals of the Aspen chamber, whose mission ought to be to preserve business, not slowly end it. Worse, membership in the U.S. chamber helps undo ongoing work on climate change by the city of Aspen, Pitkin County and Aspen Skiing Co.

What, exactly, is the leadership of the Aspen chamber thinking?
