‘Wacko’ columnists do no good

Dear Editor:Apparently you think that running columns by both Ted Rall and Michelle Malkin – wackos of the left and the right, respectively – results in some sort of balance. I think you’re only adding to the poisonous partisan atmosphere of our times.Monday’s columns have prompted me to write. Malkin called for ending just about all civil liberties for Muslims in the United States, offering a list of measures that no person in her right mind could possibly think was constitutional. Rall, meanwhile, went off on a bizarre conspiracy-theory riff accusing Karl Rove of treason and speculating about his possible connections with al-Qaeda.Let these lunatic fringes spout their venom in the blogosphere. I would like to see the mainstream media be a forum for sensible, intelligent discourse.Dave ReedCarbondale
