Voting information

Recently, I declared my candidacy for City Council. I want to take this opportunity to increase awareness about the upcoming election, when we will be electing a mayor and two council members.

There are a lot of people in Aspen who are not registered to vote or don’t know election dates. While I have many issues that are important to me and seek support and votes, I firstly want to encourage everyone just to vote.

There are some important dates to keep in mind for the upcoming election. Election day is May 6, the first Tuesday in May. Absentee voting begins April 18. That means that if you are going to be out of town May 6, you may fill out your ballot before you go, starting April 18.

In order to do this you must register with the county clerk before March 18. If you are gone from April 18 through May 6, you can make arrangements to have your ballot mailed to you. No matter how long you have lived here, or if you don’t know how long you will, you still should register and vote. We are trying to get a banner turnout, and hope you will take part in this election.

If you have questions about this election please contact the City Clerk’s office at 920-5060. If you would like to reach me with questions about registering or my campaign platforms or issues, feel free to call 920-1126 or e-mail me at hitorre@aol.com.
