This year’s primary will be held on Aug. 10 at 10 polling stations in Pitkin County. Democrat, Republican and unaffiliated voters can all vote in the primary for county commissioner. There is one three-way race for county commissioner in the primary; the top two vote-getters will advance to the November general election.If an unaffiliated voter wishes to participate in either the Democrat or Republican primaries, he can change his affiliation to a party at a polling station the day of the election. An affiliated voter cannot change parties the day of the election, however.Absentee ballot applications are currently available through the Pitkin County Clerk and Recorder’s office. Early voting will take place in the county commissioners’ boardroom on Aug. 2-6 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.The Aug. 10 election will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eben Harrell
