Votes meant a lot

Dear Editor:The votes have been counted, the results certified, and I will not be your next district attorney. However, I would like to thank everyone who supported my and helped me in the campaign.I went into the write-in candidacy knowing that it was an uphill battle, but I was amazed at the results to see that I had pulled in almost 2,400 votes, nearly one-third of the total. Those votes remain special to me because I know that each voter had to actually write my name on the line, not just pull a lever. It may be the highest praise I have ever received, and I thank all those who voted for me.Martin Beeson will now take over the DA’s office. I wish him well, and trust that he will restore the professionalism needed by the office, and the support of the citizens of this judicial district.Chip McCroryCarbondale
