Vote yes to reclaim space
Dear Editor:I have been a teacher at Aspen Elementary School for 15 years. My first year of teaching was the year we moved into the current facility. In that time we have grown from about 20 classes to 30 classes this year. There are only 25 rooms in our building that were designed for classroom space. Where are the other classes meeting? They meet in a choir room (with built-in risers across the entire room), rooms that were meant to be dressing rooms for the district theater, and art rooms (some art classes have moved into portable trailers with no water). Our school has been closed to out-of-district students. We are not trying to build space to add more students. We are just trying to accommodate the students we have now and will have in the future from our own community. The election in November will give the community a chance to help the school district “reclaim” space in our building for their intended purposes and provide proper classrooms for all our students. Please vote YES on referendums 3A and 3B. You will be supporting our schools, our teachers, and our students. Thank you for your support.Valerie BraunAspen Elementary SchoolWoody Creek
