Vote for Rappaport

Dear Editor:

We’re writing to urge our friends, colleagues and neighbors in Basalt to elect Glenn Rappaport as your next mayor. We’ve known Glenn for 20 years as an architect, an artist, an elected official and a friend. He approaches life with a rare zeal, enthusiastic to share with you his latest brainstorm, his latest passion. More importantly, though (and especially for a mayor), he’s even more enthusiastic to hear what you have to say, to draw out your ideas, to share a moment of mutual discovery.

Small-town politics is often conducted in deadly earnest, with neighbors suddenly finding themselves on opposite sides of a controversy. It’s up to the mayor to see that all sides are heard, considered thoughtfully and treated respectfully. We know Glenn as a terrific listener, a brilliant collaborator and a gifted consensus builder. We believe that Glenn’s knowledge of the issues, his perspective as a thoughtful designer, his deft touch and his gentle humor make him an unparalleled candidate for mayor of Basalt.
