Vos Caudill to seek re-election as Pitkin County clerk
Aspen, CO Colorado
ASPEN – Janice Vos Caudill said Monday she has decided to seek re-election as Pitkin County clerk and recorder.
“I was deep in thought,” said Vos Caudill, who had been slow to announce her candidacy. “I was seriously looking at all my options.”
Vos Caudill is serving her first four-year term in the post. The position is up for election in November.
She recently completed the course work for a master’s degree in public administration at the University of Colorado-Denver.
Vos Caudill said her commitment to her office staff and the position convinced her to seek re-election, but she also noted it has been a demanding job – one that has required response to state and federal legislative mandates and a new computer system.
“I had to think about it because it’s a complex position. There’s lots of responsibility,” she said.
Candidates must collect signatures on nomination petitions and turn them in to the clerk and recorder’s office between May 24 and June 4. Thus far, only Vos Caudill has declared herself a candidate for the seat she currently holds, and Assessor Tom Isaac is the only declared candidate for the assessor’s post.
Four individuals have announced their intention to seek election to the sheriff’s post, for which incumbent Bob Braudis has said he won’t seek another term. Seeking election to the post are Joe DiSalvo, Rick Leonard, Rick Magnuson and Hugh Zuker.
