Volunteers needed

Dear Editor:

From Feb. 28 to March 5, Challenge Aspen will host the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Cup Finals at Buttermilk. Elite adaptive alpine ski racers from around the globe will come to Aspen to compete in this final event before the upcoming Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver, and we need the community’s help.

In 2007, Challenge Aspen hosted an IPC World Cup race, and the event was a huge success. Without the hard work of the dedicated volunteers in our community, we would not have been able to execute such a memorable event.

This year we especially need volunteers for the race crew and volunteers strong and fit enough to assist the athletes, especially at the start of the race. Volunteers who can work three or more days will get a special Helly Hansen event jacket and will receive lunch each day they work.

If you can help out, please send an e-mail to lisah@challengeaspen.com or call the Challenge Aspen office at 970-923-0578. Or come by the volunteer kickoff meeting at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday at Bumps, at the base of Buttermilk.
