Vicki Garwood, a resident of Snowmass Village, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the University of Colorado Hospital. She was 66 years old.Garwood was born in South Gate, Calif., on April 21, 1941, to parents Russell and Ingrid Shinnefield. She was raised and went to school in Orange County, Calif. In 1968, she married Jerry Garwood. In 1977, Vicki and Jerry and their three daughters, Stacia, Stefanie and Leslie, relocated to Snowmass Village.Jerry Garwood ran the successful Arka Abode design store for several years until he died in 2006; Vicki worked as the comptroller at Fasching Haus for 12 years, then moved to Explore Bookstore, where she was accountant and then general manager after owner Katherine Thalberg passed away.Vicki was loved and respected by her family, extended family, co-workers and friends.She is survived by her three daughters: Stacia, of Arvada, and her husband Brad Taggart and two stepsons, Jeffrey and Andrew; Stefanie, of Aspen, her husband Chris Durham and their two children, Sofie and Maggie; and Leslie, of Aspen, her husband David Miller and their two children, Kyle and Baylee. Vicki is also survived by her sister Sherry Shinnefield of Lakewood; brothers Craig Shinnefield of Santa Ana, Calif., and Riley Shinnefield of Carlsbad, Calif.A memorial service was conducted Monday, Oct. 15, at the Elks Lodge of Aspen.
