Viceroy in Snowmass adding 200 jobs to upper valley
SNOWMASS VILLAGE – The upper Roaring Fork Valley’s economy is getting a much-needed boost by the creation of more than 200 jobs at the Viceroy in Snowmass Village.Viceroy Hotels, Resorts & Residences announced this week it will hold a series of “recruiting open houses” for Tuesdays and Thursdays between Aug. 25 and Sept. 10. No one will be hired until all the open houses are held, so the Viceroy officials are pleading with job seekers not to overwhelm them at the first open house, according to spokeswoman Maureen Poschman. There will be no advantage to attending any particular open house, she said.The 173-room hotel will be the anchor of Base Village in Snowmass Village. It is scheduled to open for the 2009-10 ski season, but an official opening date hasn’t been determined.The new hotel is bound to benefit from the state of the economy from a labor standpoint. The Roaring Fork Valley is usually an employees market, but many workers are unemployed or underemployed because of the recession. That will make it easier to fill the positions, Poschman acknowledged, but even without the recession – the Viceroy would be an attractive place for workers in the tourist accommodations field.”The Viceroy – anybody looking for a long-term commitment – is a very good employer,” Poschman said. “It’s going to be a plum job for people to have.”The company’s pay scale will be competitive with similar hotels in Aspen and Snowmass Village. It provides, stores and “takes care” of employee uniforms and provides a changing area, so workers can ski in off the slopes and change for work. Viceroy Snowmass employees will get ski passes. Health insurance is also one of the benefits.The Viceroy is looking for hire full-time workers, both seasonal and year-round, Poschman said. The first recruiting open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Related Westpac Sales Gallery, 54B Snowmass Village Mall on Tuesday, Aug. 25.Management opportunities include positions such as front desk manager, chief concierge, executive housekeeper in the rooms division; director of food and beverage, restaurant manager and sommelier/beverage manager in the food and beverage division; and payroll coordinator and ownership accountant in the finance division.A variety of hourly positions are also available, from bell persons and parking attendants to massage therapists and prep cooks.More information about the property is available at http://email@example.com
