Veterans Day thanks

Dear Editor:

What a grand day, with sunshine, a trace of snow, and a wonderful crowd. Many thanks are in order: the Streets Department for the American flags on Main Street; the Pitkin County crew for the set-up; the CSOs for the traffic mitigation. A special thanks to Pitkin County Communications for beautiful the sound system and Gary for the set-up and workings.

Thanks to the veterans, friends, families, visitors, and guests who were present to pay tribute to their fallen comrades and to honor the living veterans, and to support those who are currently serving their country.

A warm thank you to the representatives from the military service branches; what an outstanding showing from those women and men; the torch has been passed on to very capable hands.

Thanks to Rabbi Segal for his well chosen and spoken words. Thanks to Jeannie Walla, beautiful as always. A heartfelt thanks to those folks who came forward and shared their stories; a thank you seems inadequate.

Thank you, Elks Lodge #224. Is it just me or do the Veterans Day luncheons seem to get better and better?

Again, thank all of you for making this ceremony so very special.
