Veterans Day thanks

Dear Editor:

What a great Veterans Day Observance. It seems to get better every year. I want to recognize the people that made this ceremony happen and made it so special.

Thanks to: city of Aspen Parks Department for the American flags on Main Street, nice touch; KSNO – Jim and Don for the interview opportunity; Aspen Police Department and community safety officers for the traffic control, made a huge difference; Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office communications and Mark Gamrat for the purchase of the new sound system. Wow! Thanks also to communications tech Gary Bains for his expertise with the system set-up; the sheriff’s office courthouse gang for the care and set-up of the plaza; Nancy Bosshard for the media/press releases; Tom Buesch for the very patriotic programs; Sashae for the beautiful wreath.

Also, a very special thanks to the service branches representatives in their full-dress uniforms – you looked sharp; Rev. Tom Thierfelder for his kind words; Jeannie Wall and Richard Sundeen for the beautiful notes; Jay Parker for his not-so-silent “moment of silence” tribute; U.S. Rep. John Salazar, what a legacy of family service to our country; veterans, friends and family members who shared stories and laughs; Aspen Elks Lodge No. 224 for their dedication and devotion to veterans, and for the delicious lunch.

These people made this Veterans Day ceremony, and all I can say is thank you.
