EL JEBEL – Senior citizens in the Roaring Fork Valley portion of Eagle County can pick up applications for a senior property tax exemption in the county office in El Jebel. It must be returned to the office by Friday, according to the Assessor’s Office.

The Colorado Legislature reinstated the exemption this year for Colorado residents who turned 65 by Jan. 1. The applicant must be the property owner of record, and they must have been the owner of record for at least 10 consecutive years. The applicant also must be the primary occupant of the property for at least 10 years.

The rule exempts 50 percent of the first $200,000 in actual value of the primary residence from property tax.
