Valley bikers shine

Dear Editor:

Roaring Fork Valley had three mountain bikers racing this past weekend, and putting in some incredible feats as well as results.

Crested Butte was in full force Sunday, as it was the last crack at getting into the Leadville 100 mountain bike race. Lance Armstrong and Len Zanni put in awesome efforts in the 62-mile race around Crested Butte. Taking first was Armstrong and with a 12th-place finish was Len Zanni – a great job as this field was stacked with some incredible riders.

Thomas Ray was on form Saturday as he raced to a fifth-place finish in the Sneffels 100-miler Saturday. With 17,000 feet of climbing and a high point of 13,000 feet, just finishing was a chore.

Great job, boys, and let’s keep the results coming!

Patrick Thomas
