Ute Cemetery fire mitigation set for July 28

Aspen’s Parks Department will perform vegetation removal work in the Ute Cemetery and playground areas from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on July 28.

The mitigation work on the 6.4-acre area is meant to reduce the threat of wildfire as well as preserve the historic character of the property. The work entails brush removal via chain saw.

The Ute Cemetery is an Aspen landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
