Up in smoke

Dear Editor:

As residents of the Holiday House neighborhood, we would like to thank the Aspen Fire Department for its heroic effort in containing Wednesday night’s blaze and preventing it from spreading to other buildings.

We greatly were looking forward to the added vitality that was due to come to our neighborhood in December, with the opening of housing for 60 seasonal workers at the too-long-vacant Holiday House. We hope that the Skico and city planners will be able to work quickly to formulate a new plan for employee housing on Hopkins Avenue. The Skico and its employees need the housing; our town and our neighborhood need the vitality created by in-town employee housing.
