Unusual ursine activity

Dear Editor:I am one who has never really paid much attention to bear warnings. However on Monday night at about 9:30, while my wife and stepson and I were casually strolling back to our condo from the Paradise Bakery, we were astonished to see a large black bear emerge from the gondola plaza by the North of Nell building, cross near us on Durant, scamper down the steps into the shopping center by the Big Wrap, then run back up the stairs on to Hunter Street and finally turn left into the alley, with three teenagers in happy pursuit. All this in the heart of Aspen!Dan GersonHouston
