‘Unorthodox’ podcaster Mark Oppenheimer in Aspen on July 19

Author and noted podcaster Mark Oppenheimer will speak about Colorado’s Jewish past and present from 5-7 p.m. on July 19 at the Chabad of Aspen
The event, “Rocky Mountain Chai: What Colorado Can Teach Us About the Future of Judaism,” is being presented by JEWISHcolorado.

Oppenheimer, who was a religion writer for The New York Times from 2010 to 2016, and his current audio project, “Unorthodox,” is a podcast about Jewish life and culture.
The evening program will include hors d’oeuvres and will also feature Jezreel Valley Wines of Israel and winery founder Jacob Ner-David. Tickets are $180, and net proceeds benefit the statewide work of JEWISHcolorado, including providing support for Jewish organizations and nonprofits’ safety and security in the Aspen Jewish community, helping to underwrite Aspen’s Golshim program, providing religious school funding, Holocaust education funding, and summer camp scholarships. JEWISHcolorado also provides the PJ Library program in conjunction with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation to hundreds of children and families statewide.
