Aspen, CO Colorado

AVON, Colo. ” Police say they arrested two men suspected of stealing thousands of dollars worth of electronics after one of them was falsely accused of stealing a $2 pie.

Avon police said they found 10 laptops in the car the men were driving when they were pulled over on Interstate 70 last week. A convenience store clerk had accused one of the men, Fernando Ruiz-Huerta, of stealing a pie. Police later learned that was not true.

Avon Police Detective Paul Arnold said officers searched Huerta’s car when they learned he did not have a driver’s license. Police say he and passenger Jose Luis Hernandez are suspected of stealing the laptops from Circuit City stores.

Both men face felony theft charges. Hernandez is suspected of being in the country illegally and faces additional charges of forgery and criminal impersonation.
