Two injured snowmobilers rescued on Vail Pass

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. – Two snowmobilers injured on Vail Pass were rescued Wednesday afternoon by members of Summit County Rescue Group and Vail Mountain Rescue.

According to a press release from Summit County Rescue Group, the two snowmobilers were on Lime Creek Road on Vail Pass. About 25 rescuers from responded via snowmobile after 2 p.m. Wednesday. The two patients were evacuated to the Vail Pass parking lot via covered litters pulled behind snowmobiles, arriving at about 5:40 p.m. They were then transported to St. Anthony’s Summit Medical Center in Frisco.

The two injured snowmobilers were from Florida and were driving rented sleds. After their accident, they called the snowmobile rental company, which made the 911 calls.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.
