Two hurt in Highway 82 collision

Aspen Times Staff Report
Aspen, CO Colorado

PITKIN COUNTY – Susan Harvey of Snowmass and Winifred Norman of LaMesa, Texas were injured in Monday’s collision at Highway 82 and Smith Hill Way, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Both drivers were taken to Aspen Valley Hospital.

Harvey, 64, was traveling west, or downvalley, on the highway when Norman, 75, pulled out from the stop sign at Smith Hill Way, attempting to cross the highway. The front of Harvey’s Toyota Landcruiser struck the front left side of Norman’s GMC Acadia.

Norman’s SUV continued about 120 feet and came to rest off the righthand shoulder of Highway 82. The landcruiser continued southwest after the impact, struck a guardrail and came to a stop, the patrol said.

No passengers were in either vehicle. A patrol trooper said Monday that Norman was cited for failing to yield.
