Two ATV riders rescued near town of Crystal

MARBLE, Colo. – Two Arvada men were flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction after they were injured in an ATV accident near the town of Crystal on Sunday.

According to Gunnison County Undersheriff Rick Besecker, a call came into Gunnison County dispatch at about 1 p.m. on Sunday. Besecker said two men, ages 58 and 53, were involved in an ATV rollover and were stranded in an area near Crystal, a small collection of houses and ghost town buildings high in the Crystal River Valley, above Marble, accessed by a four-wheel-drive road.

West Elk Mountain Search and Rescue arrived on the scene at about 3 p.m. Carbondale and Marble firefighters were already there.

The two men were flown by Flight for Life to Grand Junction. No information on their condition was released Tuesday.
