BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. ” Police arrested two men in connection with the New Year’s Eve assault against Thomas Guidry at the Salt Creek Steakhouse in Breckenridge. Guidry subsequently died of a heart attack.
The two suspects, James Ian McKinney, 23, of Avondale and Brad Hunter Davis, 27, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., turned themselves into authorities on Tuesday after their attorneys contacted the Breckenridge Police Department.
Although the assault was initially investigated as a homicide, an autopsy later revealed that Guidry died of heart failure due to underlying, pre-existing heart disease.
McKinney and Davis are being charged with third-degree assault, and are scheduled to appear before the Summit County Court in Breckenridge on March 17, at 8:30 a.m.
Photos of the suspects as well as two persons of interest were released to the media shortly after the assault and Breckenridge Police are commending the public involvement in locating the two men.
“A lot of people from the community came forward with tips,” said Kim Green at the Breckenridge Police Department. “We greatly appreciate those tips and hope that the public continues to feel comfortable contacting us with information in the future.”
