Aspen Times Staff Writer
Two men were arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly smashing the window of a local jewelry store and taking $3,500 worth of costume jewelry.
Sean Aiston, 20, and Matthew Kahn, 19, both of Boulder, are in jail after allegedly breaking into Lanciani Inc., at 402 S. Hunter St. According to Aspen Police Detective Jim Crowley, two witnesses described the men and their whereabouts to police.
Crowley said the suspects took $3,500 worth of the “traveling jewelry.” He said another $3,500 worth of jewelry in the store was damaged during the burglary.
Aiston and Kahn were arrested in the 500 block of E. Cooper Avenue, Crowley said.
Both men are sophomores at the University of Colorado in Boulder. They are being held in the Pitkin County Jail with bond set at $15,750 for Kahn and $12,500 for Aiston.
